- MISSING CHILDREN
It is said the death of one’s child is unthinkable but not knowing the whereabouts of a child is unimaginable. In 2019, there were 421,394 American children reported missing. About half of these are victims abducted by family members, usually involving a custody matter. Others were abducted by non-family members who knew the victim and usually target the child for sex. Kidnappings by strangers are also usually committed with this motive. Lately, the vast majority of these children have been returned to their homes due in part to the advent of smart phones and GPS technology. Studies show missing children are more likely to be quickly located if their disappearance is immediately reported. Advocates say the child recovery rate for the most dangerous cases of missing children is about 96% and the rate of all missing children returning home alive is nearly 99%.

- I oppose reforming current missing children policy and wish to donate resources to the campaign committee of either Mike Johnson (LA).
- I support finding missing children by authorizing grants for the Department of Justice to give parents free, in-home fingerprint and DNA collection kits for their young children, allowing quick identification if a child goes missing and saving critical time for law enforcement by: 1. Funding the distribution of in-home, inkless fingerprint and DNA identification kits to parents of children in kindergarten or elementary school. Each kit allows parents to record a child's physical characteristics, fingerprints, and a DNA sample (typically via a cheek swab) on a card for rapid use by authorities. 2.) Designing kits for at-home storage by parents and guardians. They are not intended for a centralized database; instead, parents would provide them to law enforcement only in the event of an emergency, such as a child going missing. 3.) Shifting from reactive searching to proactive preparation, preventing wasted police time searching for basic ID when a child is lost And wish to donate resources to the campaign committee of Rep. Donald Norcross (NJ) and/or to an advocate group currently working with this issue.
